Union Minister U Tun Ohn Inspects Trading Processes in Tachileik

Union Minister for Commerce U Tun Ohn, accompanied by departmental officials visited Myanmar-Thai Friendship Bridge Nos. 1 and 2 and Wan Pong International Check Point in Tachileik and inspected the work processes as follows:

• The Union Minister instructed the One-Stop-Service Teams to supervise systematically to be correct Export and Import Declarations.
• It is necessary to supervise import licenses and taxation for imported items in line with procedures if the goods will be imported through the desiganted border town. It need to emphasize the avoidance of illegal imports.
• He instructed the officials to avoid delays in the inspection of goods transported via Mekong river, to ensure the correct trading and to prioritize sustainable development of trade facilities.

In the evening, the Union Minister and party visited Kenglut Trade Post and the Border Control Facility Gate at Myanmar (Kenglat)-Laos (Kengkut) Friendship Bridge, and inspected the work processes. He then gave instructions for the development of Myanmar-Lao border trade and transit trade with the use of the friendship bridge, calling for cooperative efforts between departmental personnel and local ethnic entrepreneurs.
