Unofficial and Subversive Media Circulate Rumours and Fabrication on Social Media Platforms

Unofficial and subversive media have been creating and spreading rumours and fabricated news all round to create instability and unrest across the country; sowing discord between the Tatmadaw and the people, and using various ways to create a misleading impression of the Tatmadaw in the international arena. Under this context; 

• “Khit Thit”, an unofficial media, circulated false information that security forces have detained 14 civilians at 5-mile checkpoint at the entrance to Bhamo Town. It is just a rumour. In reality, since KIA and PDF terrorists forcibly recruit the people in the township, the local youths are fleeing from there but subversive media are intentionally spreading misinformation in order to make the people frightened and feel misunderstanding on security personnel.
• “DVB TV News”, an unofficial media, created fabrication that security forces arrested over 20 Rakhine youths staying at guest houses in Pyay. It is just an allegation. In reality, there were no arrest by Tatmadaw and that the report was fabricated to create misunderstanding on the security personnel.
• “DVB TV News”, an unofficial media, accused that a prisoner imprisoned for armed criminal case, was took away from the prison and gunned down. It is just a vague rumour. In reality, Myanmar police force did not make such act but subversive media are intentionally creating illusion about administrative bodies.
• “RFA Burmese”, an unofficial media, alleged that some 100 houses in urban areas were destroyed due to arson attack and drone attack by the Tatmadaw in Kawkaraik of Kayin State. It is just misinformation. In reality, it was the combined force comprising KNLA and PDF terrorists who shelled and fired the security outposts of the Tatmadaw from a distance. The shells landed on the houses in villages and towns, burning the houses.
• “Khit Thit”, an unofficial media, created fabrication that a university student died in a Tatmadaw’s helicopter attack on Kyatthayay village in Yan-bye Township, Rakhine State. It is just an accusation. In reality, the Tatmadaw did not launch any attack on the village. Instead, it was the AA terrorists who carried out drone attack on the village under the mistaken thought by which there was a military column presence. During their drone attacks, casualties of civilians were reported.

With the purpose to cause public panic, subversive media abetting terrorists and those who disturb community peace and tranquility are spreading one-sided misinformation that security personnel forcibly arrested people at night as porter via online media platforms, covering up for terrorist acts. Again, those media are creating fabrication and making the people feel hatred for the Tatmadaw, it is reported.

• The news stating that more than 20 young men were arrested by the security forces in the Thebyu Village of Ngayokkaung Township is just an allegation. In reality, the security forces only took stability and security measures in the village and the surrounding area, and did not arrest the young people.
• The news stating that the security forces detained about 600 civilians were detained after their flights from Yangon landed at Sittway and Kyaukpyu airports. It is just fabrication. In reality, the security forces conducted their regular inspection on them and did not detain them.        
• The news stating that that the release of an audio file ordering security forces to burn towns and villages in Kawlin. It is just a fake audio recording created to make illusions among the public in the form of a security forces official ordering the burning issue.    
• The news stating that that government employees in Myaungmya Township are required to register for military service at least two people in one department is a false rumor and it is being disseminated to scare young people and parents as well as civil servants about the People Military Service Law.
• The news stating that security forces have detained 14 civilians at 5-mile checkpoint at the entrance to Bhamo Town. It is just a rumour. In reality, since KIA and PDF terrorists forcibly recruit the people in the township,
