Responding to an information tip-off about the crimes of unlawful online gambling and online scams provided by a conscientious civilian, security personnel and Myanmar Police Force members searched the yard owned by Kyaw Thein (aka) Jhun Mg Nyo in the street of Toenayar, Samseng Ward (A), Tachileik, eastern Shan State on 23 February.
During the search, security forces arrested a total of 689 offenders: 148 Thai nationals, one Chinese national and 540 Myanmar nationals who are committing the crimes of unlawful online gambling and online scams. Along with them, eight vehicles, 120 motorbikes and desktop computers were confiscated.
Following legal procedures, the arrested Thai and Chinese nationals will be transferred to relevant countries. Further, legal actions will be pursued against the arrested Myanmar nationals, it is reported.
