Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing Attends Ceremony to mark the 75th Anniversary (Diamond Jubilee) Corps of Military Engineers’ Day and Speaks Words of Honour

The Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended a ceremony marking the 75th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee Corps of Military Engineers’ Day which was held at Hsinbyushin Hall of Nay Pyi Taw Interrogation and Accommodation Center on 24 February.

Also present together with the Senior General were SAC-Vice Chairman Deputy Commander- in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Maung Maung Aye, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Tun Aung, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, union-level dignitaries, the Nay Pyi Taw Command commander, retired senior officers of the corps, officers and other ranks, officials and invited guests.

As per the agenda, the SAC Chairman Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services pressed the button to unveil the signboard of the Corps of Military Engineers’ Day and enjoyed the song entertainment as a gesture of hailing the corps day.

Then, the SAC Chairman Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services spoke words of honour as follows:

  • Since the establishment of the Tatmadaw, the corps has been serving its missions well with the best of its intellectual and physical ability in accord with its motto “To Move, To Fight, To Live”
  • The Military Engineering Corps carry out humanitarian demining duties and clearing landmines. Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) squads of the battlefield engineering battalions conduct demining operations in towns and removing unexploded ordnance.
  • The Tatmadaw orders military engineering corps to participate in rescue and relief measures of natural disasters and rehabilitation measures with engineering skills, machines, vehicles and mechanisms.
  • As a significant endeavours of the military engineering corps, the members from the corps participated in the conveyance of the Maravijaya Buddha Image, in addition to, taking responsibilities to build pagodas, monasteries, lakes, ordination hall, rest houses, a bridge, a garden and administrative buildings in the Buddha Park.
  • Since the establishment of the corps till now, five persons were awarded the title of Thura including Tura Ma Chit Po, wife of Corporal Hla Maung from training engineering battalions, 136 persons gallantry medals, 57 persons gallantry certificate of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, 103 persons honorary certificate of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, and 24 persons gallantry certificate of the Tatmadaw.
  • Moreover, 11 persons deservedly achieved the honorary title and 63 persons medal of excellence performance.
  • The Military Engineering Corps, which was part of the Tatmadaw since the struggle for Myanmar's independence, has now been able to proudly stand as an international-level crops.

Afterward, the SAC Chairman Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services accepted a commemorative gift presented by the Director of the Military Engineering Corps. Then, the SAC Chairman Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services cordially greeted senior retired officers of the corps and visited the exhibition to mark the commemorative day. Later, the Senior General had lunch in honour of the 75th Anniversary (Diamond Jubilee) Corps of Military Engineers’ Day together with attendees.
