The Workshop on Sustainable Tourism of Myanmar through MSMEs Development took place at Tungapuri Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw on 20 February. Union Minister Dr. Thet Thet Khine attended the meeting and discussed as follows:
- The Ministry emphasized two projects of ASEAN-Japan Centre in 2023 regarding “the Sustainable Tourism through MSMEs Development and Human Resource Development”, aiming to create disseminate business insights beneficial for the domestic MSMEs and establishing network.
- It can create proper opportunities for local MSMEs development through tourism.
- The MSME businesses are main driving force for the economic development of the State. Encouraging the MSMEs can contribute to the implementation of long-term sustainability for the tourism industry.
The Head of the Representative Office of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in St. Petersburg Mr. Vladimir Zapevalov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg Mr. Vyacheslav Kalganov, Myanmar Ambassador to Russian Federation U Thit Lin Ohn, Myanmar consul General in St. Petersburg U Aung Pe Thet, Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg Mr. Nikolay Bondarenko joined the workshop through Hybrid system.
Moreover, Union Minister highlighted the enhancement of Russia-Myanmar relations and cooperation, providing tourism related data for Russian tourism entrepreneurs, participation of Myanmar in international travel expo to be held in Russia, promotion of tourism area advertisements in Myanmar, and bilateral tourism enhancement.
