The second coordination meeting of Myanmar-China Central Level Work Committee for joint-protection of wildfire was organized at the Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation ministry on 19 February and the Union Minister U Khin Maung Yi, in his capacity as Work Committee Chair, attended the occasion.
First, the Union Minister said Myanmar is striving to reduce fire hotspot and haze pollution and making cooperation with relevant region/state departments on the five facts agreed with China at the first meeting.
During the meeting, they discussed the matters related to: formation of joint task force for extinguishing forest fire and recuse operations and designation of the contact person; collaboration for capacity building in fire prevention and technical training; the increase of the tasks to survey and control the transboundary haze pollution and the points to be revised/added to the functions of the work committee, it is reported.
