Unofficial and Subversive Media Circulate Rumours and Fabrication on Social Media Platforms

Unofficial and subversive media have been creating and spreading rumours and fabricated news all round to create instability and unrest across the country; sowing discord between the Tatmadaw and the people, and using various ways to create a misleading impression of the Tatmadaw in the international arena. Under this context; 

• “Khit Thit”, an unofficial media, accused that the Tatmadaw personnel killed 102 civilians, raped and murdered four women during the capture of Momeik. It is just an allegation. In reality, terrorists retreated in disorder during the Tatmadaw’s systematic attack. While the Tatmadaw personnel are taking measures for stability and security, terrorists circulated rumours in order to mislead impression between the Tatmadaw and the people.

          With the purpose to cause public panic, subversive media abetting terrorists and those who disturb community peace and tranquility are spreading one-sided misinformation that security personnel forcibly arrested people at night as porter via online media platforms, covering up for terrorists acts, it is reported.
