Cash Assistance Provided to Cyclone Mocha-affected Regions

Cash donation ceremony for the regions affected by Cyclone Mocha was held at the Disaster Management Center (DMC) in Nay Pyi Taw on 22 August.

The Asia-Pacific Ladies Friendship Society (ALFS) based in Tokyo donated K931,500 (621,000 Japanese yen), and the staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Myanmar embassies abroad, the offices of Myanmar permanent representatives, Myanmar consulates-general, Myanmar citizens abroad, companies and organizations K600,000 as well as K83,514,000 (equivalent to five different foreign currencies). Afterwards, the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs presented the donations to the Union Minister of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, who returned the certificate of honour.

Rehabilitation activities for Cyclone Mocha are being carried out according to the priority level, and the donations from the international community are being delivered to the affected areas as soon as possible and are being used efficiently, it is reported.
