Unofficial and subversive media outlets have been creating and spreading rumours and fabricated news all round to create instability and unrest across the country; sowing discord between the Tatmadaw and the people, and using various ways to create a misleading impression of the Tatmadaw in the international arena. Under this context;
“Khit Thit”, an unofficial media outlet, circulated false information on social media platforms that security forces burned down Kanse Village in Myingyan Township and took 300 IDPs as hostages. It is just fake news. In reality, the security forces engaged in security operations near that village had a clash with the PDF terrorists but no arrests were made.
- “Khit Thit” and “Ayeyarwaddy Times”, two unofficial media outlets, created fake news on social media platforms that the Tatmadaw personnel forcibly took valuable items/belongings from the civilians’ homes in urban wards of Kawlin Township by military trucks and torched the houses. It is just a vague rumour. In reality, KIA and PDF terrorists had invaded Kawlin; abducted and killed departmental service personnel; burned down departmental buildings; and looted people’s property from the homes.
- “Myay Latt Athan”, an unofficial media outlet, spread false information on social media platforms that the Tatmadaw personnel arrested 40 men in Kalay Township and the arrests are being conducted continuously. It is just false information. In reality, the Tatmadaw never made arrests of innocent civilians in the township.
PDF terrorists taking position in houses snipe at security personnel; launch bomb attacks on the latter; use locals as human shield; and make arson attacks on residential houses on their way of retreat. Unofficial and subversive media outlets are willfully spreading such disinformation and fake news on social media platforms in order to cover up terrorists’ acts and create a misleading impression among local people and security personnel, it is reported.
