A film named ‘Don’t Expect Anything’, depicting a story that might cause misconceptions about Buddhism, Buddha Sasana, and Buddhist monks, went viral on the social media platforms of TikTok and a YouTube channel called ‘isi Dhamma’ on 24 July 2023. Therefore, the writer and producer of the film Swiss director Didier Nusbaumer, and the other 14 people cast in the movie were arrested.

According to the accounts of the arrested offenders, it is found that the Swiss director Didier Nusbaumer himself wrote the story using offensive and disrespectful language in the scripts, that insulted the virtue of Buddhist monks, shot and distributed the film on the YouTube channel called ‘isi Dhamma’ on 24 July. It is also found that the acting, dialogues and use of words of all of the cast in the film were as per the scripts written by the director Didier Nusbaumer.

The main actors/actresses who played roles in the movie, although they themselves are Buddhists, recklessly behaved in terms of acting and sayings that insulted the virtues of Buddhist monks. Moreover, as it is found that their acting and behaviours in the movie imply insulation against a religion and Buddha Sasana hurting every Buddhist person who had watched the film, effective legal actions will be taken against the arrested offenders.
