Unofficial and subversive media outlets have been creating and spreading rumours and fabricated news all round to create instability and unrest across the country; sowing discord between the Tatmadaw and the people, and using various ways to create a misleading impression of the Tatmadaw in the international arena. Under this context;
- “Khit Thit”, an unofficial media outlet, circulated false information on social media platforms that some structures of Zawana Rama Learning Centre of Buddha’s Teachings (Pariyatti) were destroyed as the Tatmadaw launched shell attacks and airstrikes on Hsihseng Town. It is just a vague rumour. In reality, PDF terrorists launched drone attacks on the security personnel doing security duty, wrecking some religious buildings.
- “DVB TV News”, an unofficial media outlet, created fake news on social media platforms that some children were killed and some injured due to the airstrike of the Tatmadaw in Demoso Township. It is just an allegation. In reality, there were no airstrikes of the Tatmadaw in Demoso Township.
- “RFA Burmese”, an unofficial media outlet, spread fabricated news on social media platforms that more than 60 houses were burned to the ground due to the shell attacks and airstrikes of the Tatmadaw in Yanbye Town of Rakhine State. The news is totally fabricated. In reality, AA insurgents attacked non-military targets of residential houses and security personnel by using civilians as human shield. Moreover, they set fire to civilians’ houses to deter security personnel’s pursuit.
- “RFA Burmese”, an unofficial media outlet, circulated vague rumours on social media platforms that ward administrators are making lists of people living in Wakema Township for the sake of military trainings and military recruitment. It is just a vague rumour. In reality, officials of the relevant ministry, accompanied by ward administrators, are taking regular procedure of acquiring and recording information about members of households and location of houses in order to have accurate and reliable population list.
PDF terrorists taking position in houses snipe at security personnel; launch bomb attacks on the latter; use locals as human shield; and make arson attacks on residential houses on their way of retreat. Unofficial and subversive media outlets are willfully spreading such disinformation and fake news on social media platforms in order to cover up terrorists’ acts and create a misleading impression among local people and security personnel, it is reported.
