Unofficial and Subversive Media Outlets Spread Rumours and Fabrication on Social Media Platforms

Unofficial and subversive media outlets have been creating and spreading rumours and fabricated news all round to create instability and unrest across the country; sowing discord between the Tatmadaw and the people, and using various ways to create a misleading impression of the Tatmadaw in the international arena. Under this context;

  • “Myay Latt A Than”, an unofficial media outlet, alleged that the Tatmadaw shelled four villages in Madaya Township, injuring local residents in addition to arson attacks on those villages. It is just allegation. In reality, PDF terrorists gathered in the villages and ambushed the security forces. If they have no chance to attack security personnel, they torch the villages and flee away.
  • “Khit Thit”, an unofficial media outlet, accused that security forces forcibly detained six monks in the Nanpayote village of Palaw Township, to use them as human shield. It is just a vague rumour. In reality, security personnel, in collaboration with locals, are working for community peace and tranquillity in the village and they never detain any monks.
  • “Khit Thit”, an unofficial media outlet, spread rumours on social media platforms that the school and houses in Mitan Village of Kawkaraik Township were wrecked by airstrikes of the Tatmadaw. It is just misinformation. In reality, the Tatmadaw never launch airstrike on the said-village.
  • “Khit Thit”, an unofficial media outlet, created fabricated news on social media platforms that a child was killed and at least five others were injured as the Tatmadaw personnel shelled the section of Asia Highway between Thingan-Nyinaung military tactical base and Ywathitgon Village in Myawady Township. It is just false news. In reality, the stray shells fired by KNLA insurgents and PDF terrorists on the military outposts from a long distance landed in the villages that claimed the lives of the local residents.
  • “Khit Thit”, an unofficial media outlet, spread rumours on social media platforms that 20 prisoners including political prisoners in Loikaw Prison were not released under the reason of security although their sentence had been ended. It is just an accusation. In reality, the prison authorities are taking care of the said-prisoners under the laws despite their sentence were ended because no public transport vehicles are running at present. Authorities do not forcibly hold them and are making necessary arrangements for returning their homes.
  • “Khit Thit”, an unofficial media outlet, alleged that security personnel torched Ngagatwin Village of Monywa Township and Chanpyan Village of Matupi Township. It is just an allegation. In reality, the Tatmadaw personnel did not burn down the villages.

          PDF terrorists taking position in houses snipe at security personnel; launch bomb attacks on the latter; use locals as human shield; and make arson attacks on residential houses on their way of retreat. Unofficial and subversive media outlets are willfully spreading such disinformation and fake news on social media platforms in order to cover up terrorists’ acts and create a misleading impression among local people and security personnel, it is reported.
