Relief and rescue task forces are actively carrying out the rescue and rehabilitation activities in the areas where losses and damages occurred in the aftermath of cyclonic storm (MOCHA). In this regards;
- On 12 and 14 August, the Western Command Commander inspected the repairs of the religious edifices of the monasteries and buildings of the Homes for the Aged which were affected by cyclone Mocha in Sittwe of Rakhine State.
- On 15 August, MV Charity vessel transported 2,708.01 tonnes of relief supplies provided by Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Social Welfare Relief and Resettlement, and Myanmar Licensed Contractor Public Company to Sittwe.
Military personnel from local units under the Western Command and officials are selling basic foodstuff at cheaper prices so as to ease the living hardship of storm victims and departmental officials. From 10 to 15 August, rice, cooking oil, salt, eggs, vegetables, foodstuffs and basic commodities are being sold at cheaper prices than the current prices in U Ottama Park in Sittwe township.
