Relief Supplies Provided to Flood Victims in Kayin State and Bago Region

The Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win, accompanied by concerned officials, arrived at the rescue camps in Hpa-An, Kyonedoe and Hlaingbwe towns in Kayin State on 9 and 10 August. Then, he said words of comfort to flood victims and provided food stuffs to them.

He presented cast assistance of 31, 230,000 kyats to purchase food ration (rice) and MMK 2,262,140 worth food stuffs for 3,470 victims of 704 households from nine rescue camps in Hpa-An town. He also provided cast assistance of 6, 768,000 kyats to purchase food ration (rice) and MMK 842,240 worth food stuffs for 752 victims of 172 households from three rescue camps in Kyonedoe town. Moreover, he provided cast assistance of 39, 673,200 kyats to purchase food ration (rice) and food stuffs for 4,723 victims of 990 households from three rescue camps in Hlaingbwe town.

Similarly, as heavy rainfall occurred in Bago on 8 and 9 August, local military personnel, police force members, fire fighters and social organizations helped evacuate flood victims to temporary rescue camps and conducted necessary rescue and healthcare operations. Officials from Bago military station said words of comfort to victims of flood, and provided rice boxes as well as cash assistance to them, it is reported.
