Relief and rescue task forces are actively carrying out the rescue and rehabilitation activities in the areas where losses and damages occurred in the aftermath of cyclonic storm (MOCHA).
- On 7 August, medical supplies sent by Ministry of Health and 1.06 tonnes of construction materials donated by families of Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) were transported to Sittwe by military aircraft/helicopters.
- On 3 August, basic foodstuff and general items donated by Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement and medical supplies donated by Ministry of Health (453.2 tonnes in total) were delivered to Sittwe by naval vessel UMS Myitkyina.
Military personnel from local units under the Western Command are selling basic foodstuff at cheaper prices so as to ease the living hardship of storm victims and departmental officials. From 3 to 9 August, rice, cooking oil, salt, eggs, vegetables, foodstuffs and basic commodities are being sold at cheaper prices than the current prices in U Ottama Park in Sittwe township.
