A Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Dr. Kan Zaw attended the 4th meeting of the Inter-Governmental Russian-Myanmar Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation, along with related meetings and the Russian International Forum and Expo, held at the All-Russian Exhibition Centre (VDNH-Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy) in Moscow of Russian Federation on 27 January.
On 25 January, Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister discussed at the meeting as follows:
- During the meeting between Union Minister and Ms. Gohar Barseghyan’s delegation from the Integration Promotion Department under the European-Asian Economic Commission, discussions were made on matters pertaining to the cooperation in industrial and agriculture sectors and further plans.
- At the Russia-Asia-Pacific strategic cooperation dialogue jointly organized by the Russia-Myanmar Association for Friendship and Cooperation (RMAFC) and the Gorchakov Fund, Union Minister discussed on economic cooperation and investment opportunities of Myanmar.
- During the meeting with Mr. Ivan Polyakov, Chairman of the Russia-ASEAN Business Council, Union Minister focused on economic cooperation between Russia and ASEAN countries, trade and investment promotion between Russia and Myanmar, and economic cooperation issues.
- Union Minister participated in the business matching arranged by the Russian-ASEAN Business Council between Russian and Myanmar entrepreneurs.
On 26 January, a delegation led by Union Minister discussed with the officials as follows:
- During the meeting with the representatives of the Roscongress Foundation’s Investment Fund, Myanmar delegation discussed issues related to the construction of a natural fertilizer factory, a solar power plant, an oil refinery, an animal feed factory, as well as the development of mineral exploration, mining activities and further plans.
- At the meeting with Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation, Union Minister discussed the progress of cooperation with Myanmar and future issues.
- At the presentation of Aquarius technology products held at the headquarters of Aquarius Technology Company, the delegation explored cooperation opportunities.
On 27 January, a delegation led by Union Minister discussed with the officials at the meetings as follows:
- During a separate meeting of the Co-chairmen of inter-governmental Myanmar–Russia Commission, discussions were made on bilateral trade and investment, development of agriculture, construction and infrastructures, cooperation in industrial, energy, mineral, finance and monetary fields and construction of Russia-Myanmar schools.
- During a plenary meeting of the commission, the Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister and the Russian Minister for Economic Development, they discussed on the progress of trade and investment, energy and mineral, peaceful use of atomic energy, climate change, construction and infrastructure, transportation, information and communication technology, banking and financial, industrial, tourism, education, science and health, culture and sports fields after the 3rd Commission Meeting, held in Nay Pyi Taw in December 2022, and further plans.
- During the Business Forum, governments and businessmen from both countries frankly exchanged views on economic opportunities of each sector, law and bylaws regarding the cooperation for trade, investment and agriculture, tourism and finance and information technology.
The events were attended by a Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister Dr. Kan Zaw along with the representatives from business associations and the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI).
