The leading donor Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and party paid homage to the Venerable Monks from foreign countries on 31 July, who are temporarily residing at Jasmine Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw, and who came to attend the ceremonies to consecrate the Maravijaya Buddha Image which will be the world’s tallest sitting marble Buddha image, hoist umbrellas atop small pagodas on stone plaque chambers and share merits gained will be held on a grand scale in Dekkhinathiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory.
First, the leading donor Prime Minister, SAC Vice-Chairman Deputy Prime Minister, and party are introduced by the Chancellor of Sitagu Buddhist Universities State Ovadacariya Sayadaw Dr. Bhaddanta Nyanissara and Rector of International Theravada Buddhist Missionary University Bhaddanta Chekinda to the foreign monks separately as per the country.
In so doing, the leading donor Prime Minister supplicated that the citizens of the countries of the foreign monks are also invited to pay homage to the Maravijaya Buddha Image. Then, the Senior General said the attendance of the Venerable monks to the ceremonies will strengthen the cooperation in religious affairs and support the propagation of the Buddhism.
Regarding the supplication by the Senior General, the foreign monks made certain words of advice describing closer cooperation in religious affairs between countries due to the attendance of them, proud of themselves for paying homage to the Maravijaya Buddha Image which will be the world’s tallest sitting marble Buddha image, and Myanmar as the focal point of the Theravada Buddhism.
Next, the leading donor SAC Chairman Prime Minister presented the replicas of Marvijaya marble Buddha Images to the foreign monks, and accepted Dhamma gifts and cash donations to the fund for building the Maravijaya Buddha Image and the Park presented by the foreign verenrable monks. Also the laypersons of the foreign monks presented cash donations, robes and gifts of Dhamma and the Senior General accepted them.
The venerable monks visited the Maravijaya Buddha Image, religious buildings, Mucalinda Nagayon Pagoda and small pagodas on stone plaque chambers in the precinct of the Maravijaya Buddha Park, and the officials conducted round them.
