Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win met the businesspersons from Micro-, Small-. and Medium Enterprises (MEMEs), departmental officials and local ethnic people at the Zwekabin Hall in Hpa-an on 23 January.
First, Kayin State Chief Minister U Saw Myint Oo reported on salient points and implementation of development tasks for MSME enterprises in Kayin State, and other responsible officials made sector-wise discussions. After that, the SAC Member Mahn Nyein Maung, union ministers, deputy ministers and officials added supplementary discussions.
After hearing the reports, the SAC Vice-Chairman Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win discussed issues related to the reports and coordinated the matters together with responsible officials. Then, Vice-Senior General delivered a remark as follows:
- The government set basic cooking oil, rice and broken rice, cotton, rubber, tea, coffee, rattan, timber and bamboo as 10 items of raw materials, in line with availability of them in respective regions.
- Manufacturing finished products based on raw materials needs to be done under the One Region-One Product scheme to ensure local sufficiency and export products.
- It was found out that the most frequently requirements raised in MSME meetings are the need of loans for capital, technical and raw material requirements, market and equipment needs, and the requirements of the land.
- Purchasing the necessary raw materials from abroad can encounter the cost of foreign currency and other restrictions, and it may be difficult to operate in the long term. There are raw materials available locally in the country.
- There are two parts in Thilawa Special Economic Zone: Free Zone and Promotion Zone. They must communicate with the management committee to export their products.
- As the saying goes “Unity brings about success”, the state and regional governments, MSME agencies and businesspersons, and local people are urged to cooperate. Moreover, peace and stability are essential in relevant regions.
- MSME businesspersons have to improve themselves from the status of importer to exporter.
- All-round efforts are required to be made by individuals, families, township and state for the development of the State.
Later, the SAC Vice-Chairman Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) and party viewed round the displays of domestic products, foodstuffs, personal goods, industrial products and traditional handicrafts which were explained by the businesspersons according to their related businesses.
