A delegation led by Union Minister for Education Dr. Nyunt Pe attended the ASEAN Education Ministers Dialogue on Early Childhood Care and Education Reform Policy in Southeast Asia which was held at St.Regis Hotel in Jakarta, Indonesia on 26 July.
The Ministers and high-ranking officials from ASEAN member countries discussed the matters pertaining to ‘early childhood care and education reform policy in Southeast Asia’. The Union Minister highlighted the following points:
- In Myanmar, Early Childhood Development Law was enacted in 2014, and 5-year strategic plans are now being implemented.
- The Ministry of Education is emphasizing matters related to curriculum verification, enhancement of teacher quality, and promoting the role of parents and community participation.
- Development and education will be available to every child in the future if the ASEAN member states cooperate by sharing experiences and advice.
The events aimed to raise awareness about quality early childhood care and the importance of education, to discuss regional reform policies, and to build a network for exchanging good practices in nurturing children. The Ministers and high-ranking officials from ASEAN attended the meeting.
