The Opening Ceremony of Inter-Technological and Computer University Sports Competitions for the 2023-2024 Academic Year under the Ministry of Science and Technology took place at Wunna Theikdhi Stadium in Nay Pyi Taw on 21 January. The Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win attended the event and delivered a speech.
Also present on the occasion were SAC members, Union ministers, the chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council, senior military officers, deputy ministers, permanent-secretaries, directors-general and officials, leaders of sports contingents from technological universities and universities of computer studies, and managers, coaches and student athletes.
At the event, the SAC Vice-Chairman Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win delivered a speech as follows:
- The inter-technological and computer university sports competitions aim to implement a comprehensive education system, have good practices on physical strength, health and fitness, unity and team works, in addition to emerge morale, disciplined and qualified athletes.
- It is necessary to turn out healthy and fit youths with knowledge and techniques and human resources for development of the nation.
- Universities have been facilitated with football grounds, gymnasiums and sports facilities yearly for students to take sports exercise that they interested in during interval and sports practices during relaxation for ensuring strengthening of morality. Annually, inter-university sports events are being held.
- Therefore, youths and students are required to participate in one of the sports activities consistently to become healthy.
- It is fully expected that outstanding national sports athletes for the country will surely emerge from the competitions.
Afterward, the SAC Vice-Chairman Deputy Prime Minister and party cordially greeted the team managers, coaches and athletes bound for Inter-Technological and Computer University Sports Competitions for the 2023-2024 Academic Year. They then enjoyed the demonstrations, music, aerobic and Zumba dances, Wushu and Taekwondo demonstration of staff of the Ministry of Science and Technology, new generation athletes from the Myanmar Wushu Federation and students from technological and computer universities.
