Unofficial and subversive media outlets have been creating and spreading rumours and fabricated news all round to create instability and unrest across the country; sowing discord between the Tatmadaw and the people, and using various ways to create a misleading impression of the Tatmadaw in the international arena.
- “Khit Thit”, an unofficial media outlet, made an allegation on social media platforms that air strikes and shell attacks on villages in Mrauk-U, Buthidaung and Pauktaw killed four civilians including a 7-year-old child and injured six others. It is just disinformation. In reality, AA insurgents launched shell attacks and drone attacks on security personnel conducting security operation near towns and villages that exploded in residential areas in towns and villages.
- “Khit Thit”, an unofficial media outlet, spread rumours on social media platforms that shells and bullets fired by security forces to PDF terrorists who launched a drone attack on police station and construction office Natogyi Township, Mandalay Region killed two civilians and injured a child. It is just false information. In reality, PDF terrorists launched a drone attack on Natogyi Town that exploded the area between the construction office ad a high school (Myoma), injuring an innocent civilian.
- “Than Lwin Times”, an unofficial media outlet, spread false information on social media platforms that nearly 400 local people from Thaton Township, Mon State, fled from danger due to the shell attack launched by the Tatmadaw. It is just an allegation. In reality, Tatmadaw did not shell on the town. However, shells fired by and bombs dropped by drones of terrorists on security personnel landed in villages, resulting in fleeing of local residents to safe places.
PDF terrorists taking position in houses snipe at security personnel; launch bomb attacks on the latter; use locals as human shield; and make arson attacks on residential houses on their way of retreat. Unofficial and subversive media outlets are wilfully spreading such disinformation and fake news on social media platforms in order to cover up terrorists’ acts and create a misleading impression among local people and security personnel, it is reported.
