Union Minister Dr. Soe Win Provides Supplies to IDPs in Kalaw District, Southern Shan State

Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win, accompanied by officials, met IDPs in Phaya Kyein monastery in Mingala ward of Nyaung Shwe Town on 13 January. He provided ladies’ and men’s wears manufactured by Smart garment factory and soaps. Again, he provided cash assistance to aged people at the age of 70 and over, disabled persons, pregnant women and children under age of 5. Next, he presented rice, cooking oil, salt and pulse, dried noodles and eggs provided by Ministry of Border Affairs and Shan State Government and cash assistance provided by Ministry of Ethnic Affairs to IDPs by household.

Then, Union Minister, Chief Minister and party arrived at Yangon monastery in Nyaung Shwe and paid obeisance to Sanghas and made offerings to the monks. They cordially met IDPs at the temporary camp and presented clothes, soaps, cash assistance and foodstuffs provided by Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, Ministry of Ethnic Affairs and Shan State Government. Afterwards, they coordinated efforts.

Next, Union Minister and party arrived at the IDP camp opened in Maha Yan Aung Pagoda, Nyaung Shwe. They cordially comforted IDPs and provided supplies to them.

Union Minister, Chief Minister and party presented 286,182,600 kyats worth of 21,846 clothes and 21,846 soaps to 2,218 IDPs of 367 households in Kalaw, 17,401 IDPs of 4,440 households in Nyaung Shwe and 2,227 IDPs of 1,418 households in Pekon, totaling 21,846 IDPs of 5,242 households. They also provided cash assistance of 76,980,000 kyats to 2,566 vulnerable people; 155,818,450 kyats worth of rice, cooking oil, salt and pulse, dried noodles and eggs and 3 million kyats of cash assistance provided by Ministry of Ethnic Affairs to IDPs, totaling 522 million kyats, it is reported.
