Myanmar (Navy) Seizes 36.25 Billion Kyats Worth of 1.45 Tons of ICE (Methamphetamine)

On 4 January, Myanmar navy personnel searched and inspected a motor boat named Yan Lin Kaw (4) in the sea at the distance of 135 miles southeastern part of Haigyi Island in the Ayeyawady Region. They arrested Aung Thein (aka) Wa-toke, To-naing, Maung Zaw and Po La Pyae along with 36.25 billion kyats worth of 1.45 tons of ICE (methamphetamine). According to the confession of the perpetrators, an additional suspect was arrested as follows:

  • On 7 January, security personnel arrested Soe Kyaw (aka) Soe Soe Kyaw who involved in drug-trading at Kanni Bridge in Kawthaung of the Taninthayi Region.
  • The drugs were being transported at a distance of 135 miles southeast of Haigyi Island to the Kawthaung water territory, presumably for overseas distribution.

Security forces have taken legal action against seven perpetrators, including Chit Htoo Naing (aka) Sayar Chit and Kyaw Zin Oo, who who make drug-trading of ICE (methamphetamine) and they are taking necessary measures to investigate and identify the subsequent perpetrators, it is reported.
