Tatmadaw Performs Third successful Liver Transplant

Following that, Tatmadaw successfully conducted a second round of liver transplants on three patients on 30 and 31 January 2023, and 1 February 2023. Building on this track record, Tatmadaw has embarked on its third liver transplant, which commenced at the No. 1 Defence Service General Hospital (1000-bed) in Mingaladon Township on 18 July 2023.

In this latest endeavour, the Tatmadaw surgical team collaborated with a team of Indian surgeons operated and the transplant surgery was successfully completed after an intensive 11-hour operation.

The donor and the recipient of the liver are in good shape of health after operation and the patients are currently receiving expert care from a team of specialists, paramedics, and nurses in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The officials from the hospital viewed and encouraged the operation of liver transplant, and the liver transplant surgery for the remaining patients is scheduled to take place on 19 and 20 July.
