The inauguration ceremony of the new five-storey building of Sao San Tun General Hospital in Taunggyi and the four-storey building of the University of Medicine (Taunggyi) marking the 76th Anniversary Independence Day were held on 2 January and Union Minister for Health Prof. Dr Thet Khaing Win, ministers of Shan State government, Deputy Commander of Eastern Command, invited guests form respective the departmental office, medical staff and students from University of Medicine attended.
Then, the Union Minister and the officials cut the ribbon for opening ceremony of the new five-storey building the Hospital in Taunggyi and the four-storey building of the University of Medicine (Taunggyi). The newly opened five-storey building of Sao San Tun General Hospital is constructed with over K2.592 billion of State budget, and the new four-storey building of the University of Medicine (Taunggyi) is built using K1.403 billion.
The Union Minister and the Chief Minister of Shan State went the Taunggyi Nursing Training School and Midwifery Training School, and met with the faculty members and trainees of the Training School and also reportedly provided cash assistance.
