Unofficial and Subversive Media Outlets Spreading Rumours and Fabrication on Social Media Platforms

Unofficial and subversive media outlets have been creating and spreading rumours and fabricated news all round to create instability and unrest across the country, sow discord between the Tatmadaw and the people, and using various ways to misunderstand the Tatmadaw in the international arena.  

• The news posted by unofficial media of “Than Lwin Times” about the incident by which two children died and four local people were injured as Tatmadaw shelled Thabyayni village of Bilin Township is just fabricated news. In reality, the Tatmadaw has not stationed and done security operations the village and in the vicinity of it.

     Unofficial and subversive media are wilfully spreading such disinformation and fake news on social media platforms in order to give a misleading impression between the local people and the Tatmadaw, and create disruption to counter-terrorism operations being conducted by the Tatmadaw together with the people, and disturb the State’s peace and stability, it is reported.
