Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Thet Thet Khine received a delegation led by Acting Head of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) Ms. Danielle Parry at the meeting hall of the office on 4 July. During the call, Ms. Danielle submitted the issue of providing humanitarian aid to those affected by the storm in Rakhine State, OCHA staff entry visa and domestic travelling in Myanmar.
Union Minister frankly discussed establishment of the National Disaster Management Committee and 12 Working Committees, coordination works of the International Relations Committee, implementation of a coordination mechanism for sending provisions to the cyclonic storm affected areas provided by the foreign countries, and signing of Letter of Agreement (LoA) between the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement and OCHA. The meeting was also attended by permanent-secretary Dr. Ko Ko Naing, directors-general from the relevant departments and officials concerned, it is reported.
