Unofficial and subversive media outlets have been creating and spreading fabricated news by a multi-sectoral approach to cause instability and unrest in the country, sow discord between the Tatmadaw and the people, and create misunderstanding over the Tatmadaw in the international arena.
- The news that states USD 20 million worth of entry fees and cash donation for Shwedagon Pagoda as well as entry fees and cash donation in US dollars for Botahtaung Pagoda are changed with MMK by valuing at the exchange rate of 2,100 kyats per dollar is just fake news.
- The news that states farmers in Ayeyawady are being forced to repay the loans granted under the NLD government is just a vague rumour. Myanma Agriculture Development Bank is granting bank loans to farmers at a cheaper interest rate. In collecting debts to farmers, only organizational means are being used. There is no legal action being taken against any farmer who is absent to repay debt. Further loans are granted to those who have repaid debts.
Unofficial subversive media are wilfully spreading such rumors and fake news on social media platforms in order to disturb peace and stability of the state and give a misleading impression between the people and the Tatmadaw, it is reported.
