Response
Regarding the recent remark by the Timor President on Myanmar’s affairs, a political observer responded that he should acquaint Myanmar’s history first. Political experts said that they did not accept East Timor President’s interference in Myanmar’s affairs.
Regarding the message by the East Timor President José Ramos-Horta who insisted the Tatmadaw members, a political observer made the above-mentioned comment that he should acquaint Myanmar’s history first. Other political experts also responded that they did not accept such message.
The political observer said, “I want to say that he should learn Myanmar’s history first if he wants to say about it. If he makes criticism without any knowledge of the history, it is just speculation. Speculation means the criticism without any concrete evidence and reference.”
The observer pointed out that the previous election was rife with voting fraud by which some voters casted two or three times. Once such cases occurred, the leader has responsibility to address them. He said, “Timor President may not fully figure out such kind of incident.”
The observer also questioned the Timor President, “How many countries have closed their embassies and left Myanmar since 1 February 2021 and how many countries have expelled Myanmar's ambassadors.” He also noted that sowing discord into the Tatmadaw is akin to the attempts to break up the country. In the past, Vietnam had been divided into two parts, namely North Vietnam and South Vietnam. So did the Korean peninsula; namely South Korea and North Korea. The Vietnam has made the reunion but the Korea peninsula did not. He added that support rather than interference in one country’s internal affairs is the best action that can prevent such kind of collapses, preserving territorial integrity.
U Bo Bo Kyaw Nyein, another observer on Myanmar’s affairs, said, "Timor is a small nation and the president's advocacy for democracy and human rights is just to receive funds from Western countries. Such message would not make collapse and defeat of the Tatmadaw”.
"I'm not worried about what Timor President said. He's just wasting his time." He continued.
U Tin Swe, vice-chairman of the Democratic Party (Myanmar), remarked that he viewed his action aimed to be popular in the political arena and wanted to deny the Timor President’s message.
.He said, "I think this is just a tactic to strengthen his role. Even world powers are interfering in our country's affairs. However, we're working in line with the Constitution. No one has the right to interfere in our laws.”
