Vice-Chairman of State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win Delivers a Speech at the Ceremony to mark International Anti-corruption Day

A ceremony to mark the International Anti-corruption Day was held in Nay Pyi Taw on 9 December. The Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win, SAC members, Union-level officials, union ministers, the chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council, senior military officers, officials from the Anti-Corruption Commission and guests while chief ministers of regions and states participated in the ceremony via video conferencing.

Speaking on the occasion, the Vice-Senior General highlighted the following points;

  • Since the corruption problem is a tremendous hindrance to undertaking reform and state-building processes for the nation’s development, the government must combat corruption effectively to create a corruption-free society.
  • Actions are being taken without discrimination against anyone who committed high treason, which derailed from the roadmap and objectives of the State.
  • The Anti-Corruption Commission could hand over more than K23 billion and USD 4 million to the State fund from the prosecuted cases.
  • The entire population is urged to join hands and collaborate with each other in carrying out awareness, prevention and control activities of anti-corruption in addition to the government departments/ organizations and private sector.

Then, the Vice-Senior General and officials awarded the winners of the poster competition, video competition and essay competition, marking the Anti-Corruption Day. Next, they watched a video clip marking the International Anti-Corruption Day and toured around the photos of anti-corruption activities, it is reported.
