The Meeting of the Scrutinizing Committee on Awarding Titles and Medals for 2024 took place at the meeting hall of the State Administration Council Chairman’s Office in Nay Pyi Taw on 6 December. The Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win, in his capacity as the Patron of the Committee, attended the meeting and delivered a speech as follows:
- In order to confer awards and medals on persons including the members of the Sangha who worked tirelessly for the religion and public servants who demonstrated excellent performance in the respective sectors in developing and modernizing the country, scrutiny process will be carried out in accord with the additional conditions.
- The decisions to confer honorary medals and titles made at the preliminary meeting will be scrutinized again, and the SAC will issue announcements to confer honorary medals and titles on 4 January, 2024 (Independence Day) with the approval of a union government meeting.
- Regarding honorary titles, medals and religious titles which will be awarded on 4 January (Independence Day) annually, the participants are urged to discuss conferring them on all those who deserved to be honoured without leaving anyone including monks, individuals, personnel of the Tatmadaw and the members of the Myanmar Police Force and government employees preliminarily that were scrutinized and proposed by the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture and on those who posses capabilities that will be admired by one generation after another.
Then, Union Ministers, deputy ministers, senior military officiers and officials reported on scrutinizing tasks for conferring honorary titles and medals on those who demonstrated excellent performance for 2023, scrutinizing tasks for conferring honorary titles and medals for bravery and excellent performance in the Tatmadaw, and conferring religious titles. After that, the SAC Vice-Chairman Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win coordinated tasks reported by the relevant officials.
Also present were members of the committee union ministers, deputy ministers, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, and officials.
