Myanmar Transfers Illegal Immigrants from Border Areas to Respective Authorities

The government has been focusing on State peace, stability and rule of law. As some foreign nationals are illegally entering and residing in Myanmar through border areas, administrative organizations conduct necessary investigation process and repatriate them to relevant countries under the law. In this regard:

  • On 22 November, a total of 1,288 Chinese individuals (1091 men and 197 women) were identified and handed over.
  • On 23 November, a total of 932 Chinese individuals (788 men and 144 women) were identified and handed over.
  • On 24 November, a total of 1,040 Chinese individuals (939 men and 101 women) were identified and handed over.
  • On 25 November, a total of 815 Chinese individuals (715 men and 100 women) were identified and handed over.
  • On 26 November, a total of 648 Chinese individuals (580 men and 68 women) were identified and handed over
  • Between 31 October and 26 November 2023, a total of 8,641 Chinese people (7,846 men and 795 women) have been verified, and transferred systematically to the authorities of the People’s Republic of China.

The government will continue the process of screening and repatriation for foreign nationals who have illegally entered and resided in the border areas, it is reported.

  • Between 31 October and 26 November 2023, a total of 8,641 Chinese people (7,846 men and 795 women) have been verified, and transferred systematically to the authorities of the People’s Republic of China.
