Leader of the Information Team of the State Administration Council Maj. Gen. Zaw Min Tun responded that the accusations claiming Border Guard Force attacked the Chinese delegation comprising a Chinese Minister Counsellor who are on a trip to discuss the establishment of Nan Kyin Economic Zone near Myitkyina in Kachin State, are not true on 29 June.
The excerpts from the explanation of the SAC Information Team leader Maj. Gen. Zaw Min Tun are as follows –
- There is no matter to discuss regarding the establishment of Nan Kyin Economic Zone near Myitkyina in Kachin State. There are only monthly regular meetings for border security between Armed Forces of China and Myanmar.
- For this meeting, a Chinese military delegation came here via Kan Paik Tee Border Gate and the military officers and members of Border Guard Force welcomed them at the border gate. On the way to the border gate, the second advance vehicle of Border Guard Force has been hit five times by small arms but no casualty was reported and the meeting was held as schedule.
- We can confirm that the attack was launched by KIA to instigate misunderstanding between the two countries and the two armies and the local subversive media outlets are also instigating on the same purpose.
Maj. Gen. also urged the people to be aware of fake news and disinformation as subversive media outlets are spreading such news.
