Chairman of the National Disaster Management Committee Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win, who is currently in Sittwe, and party made an inspection tour of Maungtaw, Buthidaung and Rathedung to view round rehabilitation tasks on 14 June. Then, he addressed departmental staff, relief teams and voluntary teams in offices of district and township General Administration Department separately.
Senior military officers who were assigned to supervise rehabilitation tasks and authorities of district/township administration bodies in Maungtaw, Buthidaung and Rathedung townships reported on the progress of rehabilitation tasks in Maungtaw, Buthidaung and Rathedung townships, provisions of construction materials for damaged buildings, management for ration supply, performance of the functions of Disaster Management Centre-DMC, the status of repair works of buildings and offices on priority, the status of evacuation of people to shelters, distribution of seeds of crops for cultivation in monsoon, management for students to learn education in repairing period and the status of 99 per cent repair works done in townships. After hearing the reports, the Vice-Senior General coordinated their efforts and met their requirements.
Then, the Vice-Senior General and party offered rice and other necessary things to members of the Sangha at the monasteries in Maungtaw, Buthidaung and Rathedaung. Further, they presented food stuffs to departmental staff, relief and rescue teams and voluntary teams and inspected the repair works of hospitals damaged during the storm. They also comforted the patients being undergone treatment at the hospitals and presented foodstuffs and cash assistance. Moreover, the Vice-Senior General and party comforted officers, the ranks and families of local battalions as well as members of border guard police force and families, and presented foodstuffs and cash assistance to them.
The Vice-Senior General and party viewed round the learning status of the students in the Basic Education High School in Rathedaung, met the teachers and fulfilled their requirements what they reported, it is reported.
