In commemoration of the 73rd Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the People’s Republic of China, a signing ceremony for the cooperation agreements between Myanmar and China was held at the M-Gallery Hotel, Nay Pyi Taw on 8 June.
At the ceremony, Union Ministers of the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Chen Hai, Ambassador of People’s Republic of China to Myanmar signed the Four Agreements and exchanged them as follows,
- The Handover and Acceptance Certificate for China aided COVID-19 Vaccine between the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Government of the People’s Republic of China was signed by Dr. Thet Khaing Win, Union Minister for Health and Mr. Chen Hai, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in which China provides three million doses of vaccine and syringes, worth of US$6.9 million, for the peoples of Myanmar.
- Dr. Myo Thein Kyaw, Union Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology and Mr. Chen Hai, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar exchanged the Letters on the project to provide equipment and online service to the Government Technological College (Mandalay). This project is worth RMB 717,200.
- U Min Thein Zan, Union Minister of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs and Mr. Chen Hai, Ambassador of Peoples’ Republic of China to Myanmar also exchanged the Letters on the project to conduct a feasibility study on the reconstruction of Aung San Stadium. As per the agreement, China will provide a grant of RMB2,000,000 to Myanmar.
- The Agreement on the Transfer of Fund for Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund (2023) Projects was signed by U Kyaw Myo Htut, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Mr. Chen Hai, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar.
- In accordance with the agreement, China will transfer over US$3.8 million to Myanmar for 14 Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund projects to be implemented in Myanmar by seven line Ministries in the fields of agriculture, livestock research, electricity supply, environmental conservation, capacity building, science and technology, trade, and tourism.
The ceremony was attended by the Union Ministers and deputy ministers of the Ministry of International Cooperation, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, Ministry of Hotels & Tourism, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, and senior officials from relevant ministries, it is reported.
