Rehabilitation Activities Underway for the Loss and Damage Caused by Cyclonic Storm (MOCHA)

The departmental officials from relevant Ministries as well as relief and rescue task forces organized and sent in advance by the Tatmadaw are actively carrying out the rescue and rehabilitation activities in the areas where losses and damages occurred in the aftermath of cyclonic storm (MOCHA).

  • On 5 June, Lt-Gen Min Naing who is currently in Hakha, Lt-Gen Lu Aye currently in Kyaukpyu, Lt-Gen Aye Win currently in Buthidaung, Brig-Gen Aung Kyaw Moe currently in Sittwe and Brig-Gen Khin Maung Aye currently in Matupi inspected completed repair works of monasteries, classrooms and teaching status at Basic Educations Schools. They also made necessary coordination, comforted and provided food supplements to local patients being undergone in public hospital. They then provided food stuffs, clothes, construction materials including zinc, nails and waterproof canvases.    
  • Lt-Gen Phone Myat and party cordially met and provided food stuffs as well as cash assistance to police force members, fire brigade members, civil servants, their families and local people. Further, the officials provided them with Biryani rice boxes donated by Sky Net Family, mlca, MLCP, MICA and well-wishers of Interfaith Friendship Organization.
  • The relief and rescue teams, currently in Ponnagyun, Sittwe, Kyaukpyu, Rathedaung, Buthidaung, MraukU Townships, conducted the activities of rehabilitation such as cleaning-up activities of fallen trees and branches beside the road, sending relief aids, and distributing purified drinking water and foodstuffs. Moreover, the mobile medical team carried out healthcare services.

Union Ministers, relevant Region/State Chief Ministers, commanders of regional military commands and responsible departmental officials encouraged the said rehabilitation activities collectively conducted by military personnel, members of Myanmar Police Force and Myanmar Fire Brigade, staff from respective ministries and civil societies, and also attended to their needs, it is reported.
