To conduct relief, rescue and rehabilitation activities, the generous donors have been donating cash assistance for victims in townships affected by Cyclone “Mocha” that had developed in the Bay of Bengal. In this regard, from 30 May to 4 June:
- State Ovadacariya Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Sawlasama Shwegyin Nikaya Chancellor of Sitagu donated 10,000 sheets of zinc-roofing to storm victims in Rakhine State.
- Mon State Chief Minister received cash assistance and rehabilitation supplies for MOCHA storm victims, which were donated by officials of Young Men’s Buddhist Association-YMBA (Mon State).
- In Shan State (North), military personnel and their families, local ethnic well-wishers and entrepreneurs donated K351.96 million and 16 items of rehabilitation supplies including protective suits, surgical suits and caps for victims of storm.
- Rakhine State Chief Minister received cash assistance of K30 million donated by Myo Naing-Nine Group Co.,Ltd (Yangon) for rehabilitation works of storm victims in Rakhine State.
- Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung received K40 million donated by Ngapali hoteliers from the Myanmar Hoteliers Association (Rakhine Zone).
Together with the donation of well-wishers, Tatmadaw personnel and departmental officials from respective Ministries have been making arrangements to convey relief supplies to the storm victims in various storm-hit towns and villages of regions/states including Rakhine State, it is reported.
