Aid and Cash Assistance Provided to Victims of Cyclonic Storm MOCHA

To conduct relief, rescue and rehabilitation activities, well-wishers have been donating cash assistance to victims in townships affected by cyclonic storm MOCHA that had developed in the Bay of Bengal between 22 and 23 May as follows:

  • Kachin State Chief Minister, Commander of Northern Command and officials received a total of K 34,078,160 million donated by donors in Kachin State for the storm-hit victims and they presented certificates of honour to them.
  • Ayeyarwady region government provided 1,000 visses of fish paste, 1,000 visses of dried fish, 1,000 visses of Iodine salt, 500 cartoons of instant noodles and 100,000 eggs. South-western Command and units under the Command donated 13,000 chicken eggs, 10,000 duck eggs and 200 visses of dried fish.
  • As Sitagu Sayadaw Dr. Ashin Nyanissara donated 1,000 bags of rice (a bag contains 24 pyis) for storm victims, Yangon Region Chief Minister                        U Soe Thein and departmental officials received the supplies.

Together with the donation of well-wishers, Tatmadaw personnel and departmental officials from respective Ministries have been making arrangements to convey relief supplies to storm victims in various storm-hit towns and villages of regions/states including Rakhine State, it is reported.
