A Total of 145 Locals Killed Caused by Cyclone Mocha in Rakhine State

The lists of losses and damages in regions and states by the very severe cyclonic storm “MOCHA” on the bay of Bengal on 14th May are being released in a timely manner. It has been issued the information that 48 locals from wards and villages in Rakhine state were dead by the cyclone as of the statistics on 17th May.

More 6 locals from Sittwe, Rathaedaung, Ponnakyun and Myaypon townships and 91 people from IDP camps, totaling 97 were dead more according to the statistics as of  18 May and that’s why the total death toll reached 145. The rescue teams that have been formed in advance in the respective regions and states are undertaking rescue works and rehabilitation measures at the storm-hit areas together with philanthropic organizations and social organizations, it is reported.
