Prisoners under Detention in various Jails/Prisons of Regions and States Granted Pardon

The government reportedly pardoned 2,153 male and female prisoners from various prions/jails in Regions and States on 3 May. Each prisoner was provided cash assistance at a rate of 35 kyats per mile for travel allowance and 1000 per a day for meal a day,

The team comprising the Minister for Security and Border Affairs of concerned towns where the prisons are located, Chief of Police Force in Region and State, concerned District/Township Administrators, Chiefs of Police Force in Districts/Townships, and officials of Special Branch as well as Bureau of Special Investigation admonished the prisoners and gave certificates of release to them.

The prisoners granted pardons joyfully reunited with their families who were waiting to welcome the prisoners at the respective prisons. The concerned authorities of Region/State governments arranged vehicles to railway stations, harbors and bus terminals for the prisoners who are going on long journey, it is reported.
