Those who want to establish a political party are applying to the Union Election Commission-UEC by stating the name of the party they want to establish. As of 28 March 2023, 13 groups have applied for the right to establish parties, 50 political parties applied to remain as the political parties, totaling 63 political parties. In this regard, the UEC has already allowed nine political parties with registration numbers from (1) to (9) to register under Rule 9 of the Registration of Political Parties as follows –
- As of 20 April, Union Solidarity and Development Party has been allowed to register with registration no. (1).
- As of 24 April, Myanmar People’s Democratic Party has been allowed to register with registration no. (2).
- As of 25 April, New Democracy Party (Kachin) has been allowed to register with registration no. (3). On the same day, Falone-Sawur Democratic Party with registration no (4) and National Unity Party with registration no (5) were allowed to register respectively.
- As of 2 May, Arakan Front Party (AFP), has been allowed to register with registration no. (6); Tai-Leng Nationalities Development Party (TNDP) has been allowed to register with registration number (7); Shan-Ni Solidarity Party (SSP) to register as political party with registration number (8); and Rakhine State National Unity Party with registration number (9) respectively.
