Vice-Chairman of State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win Attends and Delivers a Speech at Coordination Meeting between Leading Committee on Organizing Myanmar National Education Conference 2023 and Working Committee

The Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win who is also serving as Chairman of the Leading Committee on Organizing the Myanmar National Education Conference 2023 attended the coordination meeting between the leading committee and the working committee which was held at the SAC Chairman Office in Nay Pyi Taw on 25 April. During the meeting, the SAC Vice-Chairman Deputy Prime Minister delivered a remark as follows:

  • The Myanmar National Education Conference 2023 is the one that will be held very first time during the tenure of  the SAC. So, plans are carried out for it to hold in early May in Nay Pyi Taw.
  • Like all other international conferences, its opening ceremony will include keynote addresses, panel discussions, parallel sessions, themes, sub-themes, presentations, Q&A sessions and recommendation sectors.
  • The conference 2023 aims “to improve the future education of Myanmar”. It is a platform for discussing the future education of the country.
  • In retrospect the budget allocations for education sector, the government allowed K 110 billion for Budget Estimates (BE) and over K110 billion for Revised Estimates (RE) during the sixmonth period in 2021-2022.
  • About 1.55 percent of GDP in BE and about 1.55 percent of GDP in RE were also allowed. In 2022-2023, it allowed K210 billion for BE and over K220 billion for RE.
  • The objectives and headlines and topics to be discussed have already been set for the National Education Conference 2023.
  • The first point is to find a remedial measure for a lesser number of students who change grades.
  • The second point is for regions and states to implement the KG+9 education scheme as a national duty.
  • For the third point, agriculture, livestock breeding and industrial techniques must be taught to students in grades 10, 11 and 12 for having basic vocational knowledge.
  • The fourth point is to teach applied subjects at agriculture, livestock and technical institutes to produce human resources.
  • The fifth is to teach higher education to students in the environs contributing to the society.
  • The sixth is to turn out arts and science professionals as well as technologists and to revitalize the national spirit and patriotic spirit of the youths.
  • The previous government in successive eras arranged for the improvement of Myanmar’s education sector by using various ways and means. The education of youths who will serve the State duties in the future must be excellent in the time of SAC.
  • In order to achieve this, such a conference will be held. All are urged to work together to successfully hold the State level conference.

Also present were Union ministers, Nay Pyi Taw Council chairman, deputy ministers and officials, it is reported.
