Efforts Made to Increase Export Volume in Fiscal Year of 2022-2023

During the tenure of the State Administration Council Government, efforts are being made to increase export volume via border trade posts and regular trade routes. As a result:

• Sittwe trade centre exceeded export of agro-products worth of USD 697,010 and export of aquaculture worth of USD 171,726 in March 2023 than in February.
• From 1 April 2022 31 March 2023 in the fiscal year of 2022-2023, Myanmar shipped 14,929.95 tonnes of prawn via regular trade route and exported 1,120.818 tonnes of prawn via border trade posts, earning USD 51.536 million and USD 5.111 million respectively. Accordingly, Myanmar generated an income of USD 56.647 million in total from the export of 16,050.768 tonnes of prawn.
• In the fiscal year of 2022-2023, Myanmar earned USD 262.344 million from 230,878.081 tonnes of export of aquaculture to foreign markets through Taninthayi Region.
• Myanmar aimed its balance of trade in March 2023 via Maungdaw trade post to reach up to USD 1.08 million: USD 1 million for the export value while USD 0.08 million for the import value. In reality, it could achieve the balance of trade in March up to USD 1.138 million for the export value while USD 0.002 million for the import value that is greater than its expectation.

         Myanmar regularly ships export of aquaculture to over 40 foreign countries via Yangon and it exported products to foreign markets via border trade posts, it is reported.
