Prisoners in various Prisons/Jails of Regions and States Granted Pardon

On 17 April, a total of 3,113 prisoners including 3,015 prisoners and 98 foreign national prisoners who were serving their sentences in and jailed at the various prisons/jails of regions and states were granted the pardon and deportation on the condition that “if they commit another offence, they will continue to serve the remaining sentences” under the Section 401, Sub-Section (1) of the Criminal Code of Law.

A total of 3,015 prisoners: 125 from Kachin state; 11 from Kayah state; 83 from Kayin state; 177 from Sagaing region; 145 from Tanintharyi region; 93 from Bago region; 50 from Magway region; 347 from Mandalay region; 398 from Mon state; 173 from Rakhine state; 1,277 from Yangon region; 152 from Shan state and 82 from Ayeyarwady region were granted the pardon.

On the same day, prison sentence reduction, amnesty and deportation were granted to five citizens of Sri Lanka in the concept of bilateral relations and humanitarian ground, on the condition that “if they commit another offence, they will continue to serve the remaining sentences”.
