The Thanlwin Bridge (Kunlong) Construction Project is located about 24 kilometers away from Chinshwehaw Town, a border town betwen China and Myanmar. The Yunnan Provincial Government is building it in progress at the cost of 140 million yuan of Chinese funds.
The Thanlwin Bridge (Kunlong) constructed by the professional engineers of Broad Vision Consultants Company and China Yunnan Sunny Road & Bridge Company Ltd of People’s Republic of China (PRC) is two-lane bridge of 286 meters long and 9 meters wide. The sidewalk will be 1.5 meters wide on each side withstanding 60 tonnes of loads.
The PC Box Griders of the bridge are carried out in sections. The ceremony to connect bridge components was held on 12 April with the presence of Deputy Secretary General of Lincang municipal government of Yunnan Province from PRC, and Deputy Director-General (Construction) of the Bridge Department of the Ministry of Construction and officials from Myanmar.
The entire construction project is now 92 per cent complete up to 12 April, and the construction tasks to be remained will be completed in June 2023.
When the new Thanlwin Bridge (Kunlong) is completed, Lashio- Hsenwi- Kunlong-Chinshwehaw road will become the main trade outlet for China and Myanmar. Moreover, agriculture products including sugarcane, pulses, corns and sesames from Myanmar will be exported to Yunnan of PRC enhancing the goods flow between two countries and China-Myanmar bilateral trade volume more, it is reported.
