Union Ministers Receive President Mr. Vadim Titov of the Rusatom International Network from the Russian Federation

       Union Minister for Electric Power U Thaung Han and Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr. Myo Thein Kyaw received President Mr. Vadim Titov of the Rusatom International Network from the Russian Federation at their respective Ministries in Nay Pyi Taw on 30 March.

  • During the meeting with Union Minister for Electric Power, the Union Minister and the Russian delegation discussed in detail the bilateral cooperation matters on wind power and small hydropower projects and the Union Minister called on Rosatom to work with their ministry or to cooperate with private investors from Myanmar in the electric power sector in order to fulfill the electricity demand of the people of Myanmar as quick as possible.
  • During the meeting with Union Minister for Science and Technology, both sides cordially discussed the strengthening of long-term collaboration of bilateral relations between the two countries, human resource development activities, nuclear technology for peaceful purposes under implementation in the socioeconomic development, the procedures to be carried out at the Nuclear Technology Information Centre for positive opinions from the public and future programmes between Myanmar and the Russian Federation’s State Atomic Energy Corporation-Rosatom.

         The project proposals of Popa Region (200 MW), Minhla Region (116) MW) and Mindon Region (56 MW) will be submitted so that feasibility study can be made and MoU signed. Moreover, the work programmes on thermal power projects will be implemented in June, it is reported.
