The Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, and entourages arrived at Sittwe University in Sittwe Township of Rakhine State on 30 March, and met the faculty members at the university.
At the convocation hall, the SAC Chairman Prime Minister and party heard reports on academic measures at the university, plans of conducting doctoral courses from 2023-2024 academic year, and requirements of more buildings at the university presented by Sittway University Rector Dr. Khin Maung Zaw.
After hearing the reports, the SAC Chairman Prime Minister stressed the following points:
- “The university or Taxila is an institution to train advanced knowledge and techniques to the students and handle them to have good morale.”
- Building a country or a region requires a lot of wellversed human resources.
- In the tenure of the current government, it provided cash awards and residential allowance to faculty members as an impetus for academic matters. Cash assistance depends on relevant subjects and professional measures.
- Although the economic of the State declined during the period of COVID-19, the government made efforts for boosting manufacturing of products to increase incomes of the State. So, the State economy improves to some extent.
- Education plays a key role in development of the nation. In retrospect, the promotion of learning by students from grade to grade was down in the nation as well as Rakhine State.
- Weakness in encouraging education may cause impacts on the State in all aspects and it cannot secure a cent per cent success.
- As residences are included among faculty members of Sittwe University, they all have to give systematic training to students to become educated.
- Basic education focuses on teaching while higher education pays attention to studying. So, systematic teaching is required for students to improve their ways of thinking and have real education.
- The students coming from various regions should gain good experiences in their lifestyle, living conditions, dress code and ways of thinking that can improve their skills and knowledge as well as their socioeconomic life.
- As the university is a focal point for sharing subject-wise knowledge and social experiences, faculty members and students need to emphasize national cause than politics.
- There will be fulfilments for more accommodation and lecture halls for Sittwe University. Likewise, the football ground will also be upgraded.
Then, the SAC Chairman Prime Minister and party viewed round the university and buildings in a motorcade. They then visited the View Point of Sittwe and gave instructions on the beautification of the viewpoint.
