Announcement on Destructive Acts by so-called PDF Terrorists Operating under NUG who Blew up Two Towers of 230 KV Thaton-Mawlamyine Power Cables

The Ministry of Electric Power carries out arrangements to increase electricity generation in various ways for meeting the public demand. As electricity generation cannot meet the demand of the people sufficiently at present, the Ministry is making a fairly electricity supply to the public based on the generating electricity.

In so doing, the electrical infrastructures that produce and supply electricity to the public are intentionally targeted by so-called PDF terrorists operating under the NUG. One tower collapsed and one leg of another tower was damaged on March 27 2023, when so-called PDF terrorists detonated two towers in Duyinseik village near Donthami Creek, Thaton Township, of 230 KV thaton-Mawlamyine power cables. These cables carry 80 MW of electricity from Mawlamyine gas-fired power station to the national grid. The towers' collapse and damage resulted in a reduction of 80 MW in the amount of electricity delivered to the national grid.

Hence, to date, 227 times, so-called PDF terrorists operating under the NUG have purposely blown up power plants, power cables, and sub-power stations used to electrify the populace. It is announced that the Ministry of Electric Power is working with the security forces to complete repair projects.
