The Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing met the region, district and township-level departmental officials, town elders, and micro, small and medium-scale (MSME) entrepreneurs from Sagaing Region at Chindwin Hall of the regional government office on 20 March to discuss about the regional development.
The MSME businesspersons who attended the meeting respectively reported on their requirements for the regional development, and the Union Ministers explained ministry-wise implementation of the relevant sectors. After hearing the reports, the SAC Chairman Prime Minister responded to the discussions and reports.
Afterwards, the SAC Chairman Prime Minister delivered remarks as follows:
- Standing of a country depends on political, economic and defence driving forces. Among many driving forces, the economic driving force takes a leading role in the development of the nation and contributes to the peace and stability of the nation.
- The business based on agriculture and livestock farms needs to be emphasized for increasing the interests of the State and the citizens, and ensuring the prosperity of the people.
- Regarding the wheat plantation, the Department of Agricultural Research, local farmers and wheat users are to cooperate with each other in seeking quality seeds of wheat.
- Local farmers are to set an aim for distribution of paddy to domestic market as well as the foreign market. It is necessary to efficiently utilize the cultivable lands.
- Quality cotton should be grown in the region and the government will provide necessary assistance.
- In our country, Sagaing Region produces the largest amount of bamboo from which the necessary paper pulp can be produced for the State earning more income. The government is ready to allow the establishment of paper mills in the region.
- Homalin of Sagaing Region produces rubber. Therefore, rubber-based motorcycle and bicycle tyres and consumer goods can be manufactured, and necessary assistance will be provided.
- Sagaing Region should generate electricity through solar power which is a renewable energy.
- In implementing the projects that will contribute to the development of region and State, local people are urged to work together for the interests of their region and nation.
- Everybody needs to consider the instigation of those who seek political profit not to successfully implement the projects.
- Our policy is to encourage domestic economy and domestic commodity production. As capital loans have been disbursed from the State Economic Promotion Fund, it is necessary to systematically and profitably spend them.
- All are urged to make efforts and work together for their region’s development. Doing so is not politically motivated but for the nation and regional development.
Later, the SAC Chairman Prime Minister presented foodstuffs to the region, district and township-level departmental personnel through officials, and cordially greeted the attendees. Then, the Senior General interestingly observed the display of local products.
