The first day of the 2023 Matriculation Exam was held on 8 March. In this regard,
- On 13 March, on the fourth day of examination, the Ministry of Education opened five foreign exam centres and 838 local exam centres in 309 Townships, totalling 843 centres. A total of 135,592 students submitted application forms to sit for a Chemistry subject exam, and a total of 122,568 students (about 90.39 per cent) across the nation sat for it.
- On 14 March, on the fifth day of examination, a total of 122,544 students (about 90.38 per cent) across the nation sat for a Physics subject exam.
- On 15 March, on the sixth day of examination, the Ministry of Education opened three foreign exam centres and 756 local exam centres, totalling 759 centres. A total of 47,436 students submitted application forms to sit for a Biology subject (Science Studies) exam, and a total of 43,772 students (about 92.28 per cent) across the nation sat for it.
- On 15 March, on the sixth day of examination, the Ministry of Education opened three foreign exam centres and 856 local exam centres, totalling 859 centres. A total of 131,614 students submitted application forms to sit for an Economics subject (Arts Studies) exam, and a total of 117,001 students (about 88.90 per cent) across the nation sat for it.
- On 16 March, on the seventh day of examination, the Ministry of Education opened one foreign exam centres and 778 local exam centres, totalling 779 centres. A total of 44,944 students submitted application forms to sit for a Geography subject exam and a total of 39,617 students (about 88.15 per cent) across the nation sat for it.
- On 17 March, on the eighth day of examination, the Ministry of Education opened one foreign exam centres and 777 local exam centres, totalling 778 centres. A total of 44,354 students submitted application forms to sit for a History subject exam and a total of 39,043 students (about 88.03 per cent) across the nation sat for it.
- On 18 March, on the ninth day of examination, a total of two students submitted application forms to sit for an Optional Myanmar subject exam and both students (about 100 per cent) across the nation sat for it.
Union Minister for Education Dr. Nyunt Pe, chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council, Chief Ministers of respective regions and states, and officials encouraged students sitting the matriculation exam for 2022-2023 Academic year.
Security personnel, health staff, fire-fighters and members of ward administration team took position inside and outside the schools and guarded the students to sit the exam peacefully and safely, it is reported.
